FINALISTS FOR NIGERIA NEXT SUPER MODEL 2011 REVEALED


The Expo Centre at the Eko Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos will from the 26th to 29th of October 2011 become the hub for Nigeria’s youngest & brightest in Fashion & Design. MTN, in conjunction with Style house, will launch the first ever MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW).
Aimed at promoting the business of fashion in Nigeria, nurturing emerging talent, and creating a platform for designers to showcase their work to a target audience, the MTN LFDW will continue to advance Nigerian fashion in its strive for global recognition.
The 4-day event will showcase carefully selected, the best in Fashion & Design with exhibitions during the day, and runway shows in the evening. Designers like Jewel by Lisa, Odio Mimonet, Lanre Da Silva, Gozi, Ituen Basi, Maki Oh, Grey Bridget Awosika, Kelechi Odu, Okunoren Twins, Anita Quansah, Sunny Rose, Nkwo and more, will show their Spring Summer 2012 Collections. Potential exhibitors include Nike Art Gallery, Kelechi Amadi Obi, Banke Kuku, Urban Living, Colours in Africa, Nail Room and lots more. MTN LFDW Exhibition: open 10am daily, while MTN LFDW Catwalk shows starts in the evening.
After a successful screening process in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja for Young Models and Designers, MTN LFDW Awards 2011, supported by Vlisco Real Dutch Wax, will present the 12 finalists in each category before fashion cognoscenti, judges and press in search of MTN Young Model of The Year and MTN Young Designer of The Year. The winners will go home with MTN cash Prize of N1, 000,000 and a Brand New Hyundai Jeep respectively.

Overall, the event is expected to garner press as fashion tastemakers are set to attend and experience Africa’s burgeoning fashion industry – Nigeria, first hand.
Research In Motion (RIM), the company behind the BlackBerry® solution, has announced that it will support the MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week as a Technology sponsor. The company believes that MTN LFDW can play an invaluable role in encouraging and developing excellence in the African Fashion industry. Many Africans are entering the world of digital communications, thanks to mobile connectivity. The BlackBerry solution has opened up new possibilities for consumers and small businesses by giving them access to instant messaging, mobile banking, email, media downloads and many other powerful applications to communicate fashion trends.
MTN LFDW, in collaboration with Blackberry, will also host the official MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2011 after party at an exclusive
location to launch RIM Blackberry’s latest device. The MTN LFDW After Party is supported by Veuve Clicquot.
MTN LFDW is a Style House initiative title sponsored by MTN and co-sponsored by British Council, Blackberry, Moet Hennessy, Veuve Clicquot, Medici, Vlisco, Beat FM, Porsche, Spice TV, House of Tara and Sleek Hair.
